Climate Change

This week me and my class have been learning about climate change. We had to write what climate change was, what the difference between climate change and global warming is and how it is affecting the Amazon forest. Enjoy!

My Writing

How can we stop climate change?
Do you know what climate change is?
Some people think that climate change and global warming are the same, but they're wrong.

Global warming is the world getting hotter. Climate change is changes to our climate like the glaciers melting making the sea levels rise. The sea temperature is warmer.

Fossil fuels and carbon dioxide are releasing too much hot air, but it can’t be reused like other things can.

Did you know that the Amazon forest is 20% of the earth's oxygen? The Amazon Forest is home to thousands of animals. Many people are cutting down trees to make wood for their fireplaces, palm oil and clearing the way to make bigger farm lands, roads, mines and dams. But there are tribes people living in the Amazon forest.

Believe it or not but when cows fart it is really bad for the earth's atmosphere. This might sound funny but when a cow farts it adds up! Methane gas builds up in there digestive system and releases a fart! When you think there are almost 1.5 billion cows farting all that gas, it sure is a real problem.

Most people might think, ‘Oh well, it's not hurting the wildlife.’ They are wrong. Certain species of animals are suffering more than others. Polar animals are at risk of dying. Since the glaciers are melting the polar bears have less sea ice to hunt for their prey.
Certain seal species like ringed seals make caves in the snow and ice to raise their pups, feed and mate.

Climate change also affects people. There are more storms and hotter weather for us to cope with.

I think climate change is bad because most animals are dying because their habitats are being destroyed. We need to stop climate change.
